After it was announced at the Japan Cancer Association in 1996 that fucoidan can induce apoptosis phenomenon (AP) in cancer cells, it began attracting attention in the fields of complementary and alternative medicine. After that, the studies were conducted and it became clear that fucoidan's apoptosis effect was fortified by such rare substances as fucoxanthin and CCK, which are low-molecular-weight substances easily absorbed by the human digestive system. Neo Fucoidan FXC contains the Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed extract base thought to surpass the antitumor effects of conventional fucoidan (sulphate group contents above 15%). It is said to have received a high appraisal at the departments of medicine and pharmaceutical science in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya state universities in Japan. Even more, this product contains low-molecular-weight fucoxanthin, the antitumor properties of which were announced by the Japan Cancer Association.
Components of Neo Fucoidan FXC:
Ascophyllum plus is a powerful extract of two promising materials: Ascophyllum nodosum, a type of brown seaweed growing naturally near the Baltic Sea waters, and mekabu (part of Undaria pinnatifida seaweed also called wakame) grown in the sea waters near Japan and Korea. Ascophyllum nodosum contains the new powerful substance CCK, the antitumor effects of which are further fortified by the components found inside mekabu seaweed.
Fucoxanthin. Contained in the mucous substance found in such brown seaweeds as kombu (Laminaria japonica), wakame (Undaria pinnatifida) and mozuku (Cladosiphon okamuranus), this natural pigment of red color has an extremely low molecular weight of 500-600 daltons. Its extraction is a complicated process that was not possible on a commercial scale until recently, and even now, it is an exceptionally rare component, only 10mg of which can be extracted from 1kg of Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed. Fucoxanthin is believed to be responsible for helping fucoidan trigger apoptosis effect in cancer cells.
CCK is a new chemical substance originating in brown seaweeds, and which has a salicylic acid framework (C00H?0H) and is thought to be a powerful immunomodulator in humans. Its molecular weight is 300, which makes it an easy task for human digestive tract to absorb this substance. This substance is thought to boost the apoptosis effect of fucoidan and selectively inhibit the COX-2 enzyme responsible for pain signal transmission.
Red Ginger Extract containins polyphenols capable of selective COX-2 inhibition.
Extract of Black Ukon (black curcuma) has been used for its medicinal properties in Thailand for more than 1,000 years. It is thought to have an analeptic effect and to boost stamina.
