Apoptosis Fucoxanthin, the long-awaited liquid fucoxanthin containing high concentration low-molecular fucoxanthin, CCK, ascophyllum+ and red ginger extract is now available on Zenmony.com. Fucoxanthin is a pigment, found in such brown seaweeds as kombu (lat. Laminaria Japonica), hijiki (lat. Hizikia Fusiforme), wakame (lat. Undaria Pinnatifida) and mozuku (Cladosiphon Okamuranus). It belongs to xanthophyll group and is a non-provitamin A carotenoid. Fucoxanthin is of allene structure and has epoxide and hydroxy groups. Fucoxanthin is similar to focoidan in having an apoptosis inducing effect but its structure is different. CCK (Cladoshiphon caledoniae kylin) has a salicylic acid framework, and contains a single molecule of Mg (magnesium) in its structure. CCK was detected as an adjustment factor in the brown seaweeds. It is a very stable agent with the molar weight about 300 and, in order to achieve the selective inhibition of COX-2 it decreases the PGE2 (responsible for transmitting pain signals). Brown seaweeds have components inhibiting COX, but some of the seaweeds inhibit non-selectively COX-1 and COX-2. For example CCK in combu reveals high selectivity towards COX-2, but CCKs extracted from mozuku and wakame seaweeds show no selectivity. Contains a total of 25mg of fucoxanthin.
